While all of you people back in the fine nation of America are enjoying that crazy day that is Thanksgiving, we in Senegal are preparing for a huge Muslim holiday on Saturday. It’s the ‘feast of the sacrifice’ (called ‘Tabaski’ in this country) and every muslim family will slaughter a sheep to commemorate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his own son when God asked him to.
Over the last few days, the city of Dakar has literally filled with sheep and these strange government-issued posters that sound to me like previews for a summer blockbuster.
ONE FAMILY. ONE SHEEP. TABASKI.
…coming to a small Western African nation near you November 28th. Don’t miss it.
